There are two types of people in this day of age I've noticed.
1. The Digital Note Taker
2. The Old School Note Taker
What do I mean? You probably know which group you best belong to. For me, I can't take notes on my Mac... or my I-phone. I absolutely need TANGIBLE notes, real paper, and real pens. I want notes I can tape on my wall, slap on my computer or stick in a notebook.
Instagram for me is very, very similar. Using my phone to comment and check Instagram is a hassle. It's painful and it makes me avoid the platform more often than not.
Bad news for people out there like me... our engagement on social media won't go up. In fact, our lack of response and participation may actually hurt us.
I took a large step in the right direction recently when discovering how I can use Hootsuite to boost my engagement in a way that feels more natural to my style... AND it's faster.
So here are a few quick tips on how to start using www.hootsuite.com to your advantage after this busy holiday season.
Step 1. I ONLY use Hoosuite for engagement and monitoring my platforms.

(WARNING: Avoid using the scheduler on HootSuite as investigations into non-facebook platforms have proven to affect your post reach. )
Step 2. Choose your streams.
I choose streams that I think may actively benefit me to engage with. For instance living in Denver... #denverbusiness would be a strong feed to engage with and follow.
It's also useful to go a bit bigger with more active feeds so I chose #smallbusiness and #smallbusinessowner in this example.
Obviously I want to engage with my posts and those who comment also so this would be one I recommend including as well.
Step 3. Engage Genuinely down the Streams
Start at the TOP of one Stream (#denverbusiness) and find posts you want to truly engage with.
LIKE and COMMENT
The key here is to be real, find something in the image or caption that you WANT to respond to and quickly type it up.
If you REALLY want to encourage engagement ask a question in your comment.
Ex: "That's a gorgeous view where are you in this?"
Psychology makes us more inclined to respond to questions we are asked, this may open up organic dialouge.
The more regularly you do this, the more you'll find people responding to you and even following you. The goal here is to start building true relationships with your IDEAL audience to eventually push them to your page and to create digital repore.
Feel free to reach out at let us know how this technique works for you!
