I’m sure you’ve picked up on patterns in your own day-to-day social media life. We’ve all encountered the dead zone… that period in time when your stay at home friends are posting DIY projects but otherwise, the internet feels dead.
How can we use this dead zone to our advantage? We avoid it!
If you’re starting a new business, a blog, or just trying to spread your own personal power messages across Facebook you’ll want to maximize, right? Let’s focus on the best times to post influential ads and messages to Facebook.
There are plenty of social media studies we can use to shed some light on this topic but to simplify things here’s a short breakdown:
Think About Your Time-Zone.
According to Business Insider Half of the US lives in 9 States- they mentioned their findings, “Using the latest US Census data, we determined that just nine states — California, Texas, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Georgia and Florida — account for half of the entire US population.” This means that the Central & Eastern Time Zones are where you’ll benefit the most.
If you’re a small company focusing in your region- no worries. But if you’re wondering when’s the best time to be posting for a large market, think 3 words Eastern Standard Time.

Think About Your “Target Client’s” Day
In most cases, the average American is waking up and working some very predictable shifts (aka. 8 AM - 4 PM or 9 AM – 5 PM)
Though mornings are the PRIME posting hours, it’s definitely not going to hurt to send out some early AM messages to start off everyone’s days.
Morning Times: 7:00 AM- 9:00 AM
What comes next? Those sporadic corporate lunch breaks of course! Which is proven to be the most beneficial posting times for Facebook Ads and engagement.
Afternoon Times: 12:00 PM- 3:00PM
Finally, the day is done. Work is over and our target audience is kicking off their boots and ready to relax.
Evening Times: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
But What About the Weekends?
Of course, we can’t forget about the Saturday and Sunday. Though for some of the working class, there are similarities in schedules on the weekend- for most they are free. Meaning Saturdays and Sundays are a beast of their own.
To keep it simple:
· Post on the Weekend to keep your audience engaged, but keep in mind…
· Weekends don’t perform as well as Monday- Thursday in engagement
· Stick to the afternoon hours of 12:00 – 3:00 PM to see the best results
